Anberlin - Cold War Transmissions

okay, for the sake of getting this whole post out of my head and not letting anything stop me.. all punctuation and capitalization rules no longer apply...

i went to nintendo fusion tour last night with adam "rizzy" bolur. bands and kevin's review, in order of appearance..
----------------------
1. Anberlin - actually, for a non-screamo band on a predominatly screamo tour... pretty fuckin' good. a few things, however, threw me off... the drummer, while very good and rockin on his minimalistic set (bass, snare, floor tom, hihats, and two large crash cymbals, one doubling as a ride), the drummer was a bit of an over the top head banger... he banged his head so hard, that it seemed that he was hitting another drum (or his snare, even) with his fucking head. banging my head that hard.. would hurt.. and even permanently damage my brain. the other thing that threw me off about this band, was that the singer.. while also very good, carried himself like he was a girl. almost like an 80s pop band singer. he wore tight girlish jeans too... which only hurt his case. very good with high notes, not as much screaming as i'd like... but good none the less... songs good, stage presense.. good, one 80s cover that i didn't recognize.. but that's okay... i like covers...

2. My Chemical Romance - wow, they fucking suck. i mean, they were good enough to keep me watching, which isn't saying much because i wasn't about to leave my seat to go and play nintendo games that were too hard to figure out in the lobby. the singer thought he was really cool, screaming at random points in songs, and sucking horribly... he hit the notes, but the words were stupid and meaningless... FUCK MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. there i said it, people seemed to like them... WHY?! i can't see it... the singer looks like edward scissor hands without the scissor hands.. not a good look.. fucking goth wannabe's...

3. Lostprophets - holy shit. the reason i came to this show in the first place... making my $25 totally worth every penny... not to mention the $15 i spent on a shirt... they played the first two songs ("We Still Kill the Old Way" and "To Hell We Ride") off their newest album (Start Something) and nailed every vocal harmony... every scream/sing unison... every riff and fill... god damn... not to mention the rest of the set, including their hits, "Last Train Home", and "Wake Up (Make a Move)" and the entire floor area jumping in unison and totally loving every second of the music they play. They then played their lightest song on the album, and everyone still loved it... "Last Summer" is the name of that one.. hopefully it'll get big and become a graduation song all over america.. (hear that GE?... get to work) they then moved to my favorite song, "Start Something" for the people in the pit... and it fuckin worked, it made me want to run in there and kill someone... i was loving every second of it. Then they played another great fuckin' song called "Burn Burn" which got the crowd involved during the breakdown when they got us all to chant, "Burn burn, for us, for them, for you." tasty. They closed with an older song of their's called, "Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja" and good lord.. let me tell you, this song.. fucking awesome... everyone on the floor was moving, even if they hadn't heard the song... or hadn't even been there to see the lostprophets... the whole floor was into them and they held the audience in the palm of their hands.. astonishing..

Last but definitly not least...
----------------------
4. Story of the Year - these guys know how to put on a show. they do back flips off of amps, they swing their guitars around their entire bodies and then continue playing them... at one point.. the two guitarists even took their guitars off and threw them from one side of the stage to the other guitarist on the other side. they both caught each other's guitar and continued playing the song.. i shat myself... they did a cover section where they played snipits of other songs.. and that was really good.. spanning from rage to the goo goo dolls.. their hits, "Anthem of Our Dying Day" and "Until the Day I Die" (coincidence? i think not) were also awesome... they even played what seemed to be a ballad, "Sidewalks"... all very great songs... they closed with my favorite song of theirs.... "In the Shadows" a very good choice... i left that concert with a very high opinion of Story of the Year... can't wait to see them again.

Same thing with the Lostprophets.
